Just short of a week ago, it was claimed by a number of Spanish publications that Barcelona players would be happy to cut their salaries amid the COVID-19 outbreak in Europe, which has ensured that LaLiga matches postponed until further notice.
It was then claimed this week that certain Blaugrana stars were unwilling to take pay cuts, although seemingly in an attempt to put an end to the back-and-forth between truth and speculation, Barca confirmed on their website on Friday that they will tackle the financial crisis with salary cuts.
While the extents of the cuts are yet to be disclosed, it might be interesting to imagine how much less the players might earn over the next few weeks or months by looking at their current weekly wages.
Captain Messi is believed to be on £500 000 (R9.6 million) a week in Spain, which is almost double Griezmann's weekly wage of £294 000 (R5.6 million)– click through the gallery above to see who Barca's 10 highest-paid stars, and how much they earn weekly, are!
