A scientific study has reportedly shown that FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi is twice as good a player as Juventus talisman Cristiano Ronaldo is.
The two footballers have often been compared to one another over the past 15 years, having won an incredible 11 Ballons d'Or between them.
While Messi has claimed the individual accolade on six occasions, Ronaldo has won it five times, but the question remains: who is the best player in the world?
According to a study conducted by SciSports in partnership with Universidad Catolica in Belgium, the Argentine is double the player the Portuguese is, or at least was from the years 2013 to 2018.

The study is reportedly based on those five years, which were undoubtedly Ronaldo's most successful years as a footballer in terms of trophies won and goals scored.
The researchers value a player based on goals and assists, according to Professor Jesse Davis, who explained the method further.
"A goal is a rare event, however, because an average of 1 600 actions are estimated to occur in a match. Our model looks at each action – shots, passes, dribbles, tackles – and calculates its value," he said, as per Sport.
The publication noted that Messi scored 1.21 on the test, while his counterpart came away with a 0.61 score after the study found that the Argentine got on the ball more, and therefore created more chances and decided the outcomes of games more often.
