Sporting Lisbon president Frederico Varandas believes Cristiano Ronaldo will return to the Primeira Liga club one day.
Ronaldo's mother recently made headlines when she said she would try to persuade her son to rejoin the newly crowned Portuguese champions.
Jorge Mendes, Ronaldo's agent, was quick downplay speculation that the five-time Ballon d'Or winner would return to his first professional club, though.
Despite Mendes' recent remarks, Varandas is convinced Ronaldo will return to the club he supports.
"I think he will play here one day," the Sporting president told Sic Noticias.
"Cristiano was among the first to send me a message to congratulate us for the championship victory.
"... Obviously his return here depends on him: in addition to being a great player, Cristiano is a great fan of Sporting."
Here is where Ronaldo ranks among the highest-paid athletes in the world in 2021, according to Forbes!
