A former Brazil captain has slammed Neymar, insisting he is more of a celebrity than a footballer and will never reach the level of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, while also stating he "doesn't play sh*t" for the Selecao.
Neymar made the headlines this week after having a foul-mouthed rant following his side's last-minute elimination from the UEFA Champions League courtesy of a controversial penalty for Manchester United.
Earlier in the week, Neymar, who is still recovering from a foot injury, was seen partying at the Rio Carnival – something that seemingly led to former Brazil international Jose Ferreira Neto criticising him.
"Neymar is one of the greatest players in the world, but did you see Messi playing against Real Madrid? Did you see Messi playing against Sevilla?" Neto told Esporte Interativo, as cited by AS.
"Have you seen Cristiano Ronaldo playing with Juventus at 33? He is the top scorer of the (Italian) championship.
"Neymar is not a player, he is a celebrity, and he's also a spoiled man, you cannot talk about him because his father gets angry and the only ones who had the courage to do so were (fellow former player Walter) Casagrande and me."
Neto also insisted that Neymar is the reason why Brazil were knocked out of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
"We lost the World Cup because of him, because he does not play sh*t for the national team," he added.
Before picking up his injury in January, Neymar made 23 appearances across all competitions for PSG this season, scoring 20 goals and assisting another 11 strikes along the way.
