Sergio Aguero has revealed the jokes FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi made to him via text message about wearing the No. 10 jersey for Argentina.
Messi will miss Argentina's games against Ecuador on Friday and Paraguay on Wednesday through injury, leaving the No. 10 jersey vacant.
Aguero admitted he will wear the number for those World Cup qualifiers, and said Messi texted him when he first had to wear it, asking the City striker if was going to chicken out.
"I spoke to the kit man and he told me it is obligatory – someone has to use it because the numbers go from 1 to 23," he told Manchester City's official website.
"I wore it for the first time against Bosnia, in a friendly in the United States, and Leo said: 'When I am not around, Kun has to use it.'
"Then he started to send me messages: 'Are you going to wear it? You're not going to chicken out?'
"Now every time he is absent, it is up to me to wear it.
"I am happy to pull on the shirt, but it obviously belongs to him."
Aguero has played 70 games for Argentina, and has found the back of the net 34 times.
