Aguero Reveals Messi's Private Reaction To Barca Exit

Barcelona forward Sergio Aguero has revealed how Lionel Messi reacted in private to his shock departure from the Catalan giants in August.

Messi Unhappy In France?

Two months ago, the 34-year-old found out he had to leave the Blaugrana after 21 incredibly successful years in Spain.

The club could not afford to hand Messi a new contract following the expiration of his deal at the end of June, which led to the six-time Ballon d'Or winner's untimely exit from the LaLiga giants.

Aguero, who joined Barcelona to play with his international colleague, has revealed that Messi found it hard to concentrate behind closed doors after receiving the news from Barca president Joan Laporta.

"It was a time of shock for him. He felt terrible. When I found out, I couldn't believe it," he told El Pais.

"That Saturday I went to see him at his house. And, because of my personality, since I saw him pretty down, I tried make him forget what had happened.

"I could see that he was unable to concentrate and I was trying to distract him. I was telling him about my Esports team. And the things we were doing about it."

Aguero also insisted he has no regrets about joining last season's Copa del Rey winners.

"I arrived with the expectation of playing with Leo and that a good team would be put together, which was what the club tried to do," he added.

"When they called me I thought: 'I don't care what they pay me. I will be happy and I'm going to help the team as much as possible.'"

Days after Messi was told it was not possible for him to stay at Barcelona, he joined Paris Saint-Germain on a two-year contract, with the option to extend his stay in France by another year.
