Forward Sergio Aguero has explained why he thinks it would not be easy for Manchester City to sign Lionel Messi from FC Barcelona.
Messi has been linked with the Citizens in recent transfer windows, with his current deal in Spain set to expire in 2018.
Aguero, who plays with the 30-year-old in the Argentina setup, believes luring his international colleague to City would be tough as he is more than just another player at Barca.
"The money isn't a problem here," he told TyC Sports.
"But I think Messi, like (Cristiano) Ronaldo, are players who are symbols of their clubs and its difficult for them to leave.
"I would love to have Leo on my team, but that seems quite complicated."
Messi is yet to commit his future to the Catalan club, but president Josep Maria Bartomeu has insisted the forward will sign a new deal in the coming weeks.
The attacker has been in sublime form this season so far, scoring 14 goals in 11 games for the Spanish giants, while he also fired a hat-trick to send Argentina to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in the final qualifying match.
