Samuel Eto'o: This Starlet Can Be The 'Future Lionel Messi'
FC Barcelona legend Samuel Eto'o has revealed who he thinks can be the "future Lionel Messi", saying the starlet should draw inspiration from the Argentine's "superhuman mental strength".
The African himself made 199 appearances for the Catalan giants, scoring 130 goals and assisting another 41 strikes.
Eto'o joined the Blaugrana in August 2004, about a year before Messi made his senior debut, and played four years alongside the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.
The African icon has now stated his belief that Paris Saint-Germain starlet Kylian Mbappe can become as good as the Barcelona superstar.
"He's the future Messi if he handles his status well, if he understands well what goes on around his name," the former Cameroon international told France Football.
"There are so many things to take into account to have a great career, which have nothing to do with your football qualities, even exceptional ones. I hope to have the chance to talk to him about it one day.
"Kylian can get inspiration from the superhuman mental strength of Leo Messi, whom I saw grow up at Barca. He continues to make games easy by creating something each second. He's unique, but he's stayed the little kid I discovered in 2004, respectful, discreet. Others would have gone mad with global fame."
Despite his young age, 19-year-old Mbappe has already made 102 senior appearances for AS Monaco and PSG.
On Tuesday night, the teenager can lift the fourth trophy of his fledgling career when PSG face third-tier side Les Herbiers in the final of the Coupe de France.
