Ronaldo: Why Neymar Left Barca
Ronaldo de Lima: Why Neymar Left FC Barcelona
Brazil legend Ronaldo Nazario thinks he knows why his fellow countryman Neymar decided to leave FC Barcelona for a record transfer fee in August.
The 1996, 1997 and 2002 FIFA World Player of the Year spent just one season with the Blaugrana, during which he scored 34 goals in 37 La Liga matches, before leaving the Camp Nou in 1997.
The 41-year-old, who quit the Spanish side for Serie A giants Inter Milan, has suggested that Neymar's exit could be similar to his departure as he fell out with the Catalan club's hierarchy.
"Neymar's exit from Barca was a bit like mine. I went to Inter when the Italian league was much stronger than France is now," Ronaldo told Veja.
"I don't have the details, and I don't know what was behind the negotiation (for Neymar). Maybe everything came from problems with the Barcelona board, as was the case with me. I'd do it again."
Since arriving in Paris, the 25-year-old has made 12 appearances forParris Saint-Germain Ligue 1 side, scoring 11 goals and assisting a further nine strikes.
