Reports: Real Madrid Need €400m To Buy Paris Saint-Germain's Neymar
Real Madrid are believed to be keen to break the world record fee for Neymar, and new reports suggest that Paris Saint-Germain would sell him for a whopping €400 million (R5.9 billion).
The Brazilian joined the French giants in a deal €222 million (R3.25 billion) transfer in August and has since racked up impressive statistics in Ligue 1.
His 29 goals and 19 assists in 30 games in 2017/18 stand in contrast to Los Blancos' struggles in both domestic competitions, and have spurred on reports that Real's bosses are keen to lure the former FC Barcelona star to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Neymar missed the second leg of his side's UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie defeat to the Spanish giants due to injury, and it is believed he would already be prepared to turn his back on PSG and join Real.
Spanish publication AS has now suggested that the Ligue 1 side, whose representatives – including president Nasser Al-Khelaifi – have previously insisted the 26-year-old is not for sale, would be prepared to let Neymar go for €400 million.
According to the report, delegates from Real met with Neymar's father and two attorneys a few weeks ago in order to explore a possible deal, and €400 million apparently emerged as PSG's asking price.
While it remains questionable as to whether or not Real would be prepared to pay that kind of money for Neymar, other reports have linked the superstar with a return to FC Barcelona.
