Los Blancos remain keen to replace the departed Ronaldo with a "Galactico" signing, and have reportedly identified Chelsea's Eden Hazard as the ideal man.
A few days ago, the Blues reportedly rejected a whopping €170 million (R2.64 billion) offer for the 27-year-old, and Belgian publication HLN has since reported that the Spanish giants have improved their bid to €225 million (R3.49 billion), but want goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois included in the deal.
Hazard himself fuelled the speculation recently when he suggested he could leave the Blues in this window.
"After six wonderful years at Chelsea, it might be time to try something new," he told HLN after Belgium's 2-0 win over England in the 2018 FIFA World Cup third-place play-off.
"After this World Cup, I can decide whether I want to stay or leave, but Chelsea will make the final decision, if they let me go.
"You already know my favourite destination."
Widespread reports suggest that Hazard's preferred choice, if he does decide to leave, would be Real Madrid, while his Chelsea and Belgium teammate Courtois could follow him.
"Where Hazard goes, I go too. We can't be separated," the 26-year-old shot-stopper said, as quoted by Sport.
Courtois is believed to be keen on a return to Spain in order to be closer to his children.
Both players are now on holiday after finishing in third place at the World Cup, but there is not much time left to complete their transfers, with the Premier League transfer window closing on 9 August.
