Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola reportedly tried to make shock moves for FC Barcelona superstars Lionel Messi and Neymar in the latest transfer window.
The Spaniard was announced as City manager early this year, when he was still in the hotseat at German giants Bayern Munich.
Guardiola and his new club were linked with many top players around Europe during the recent transfer window, including the likes of Argentine forward Lionel Messi and Brazilian attacker Neymar.
It was initially thought that moves for the Barca duo were unrealistic, but according to The Sun, Guardiola made contact with their agents on a few occasions.
The former Blaugrana manager reportedly attempted to lure the players to England, and was said to be upset when his club could not make the deals happen.
Neymar has been heavily linked with a transfer away from Spain, with his agent recently revealing that Paris Saint-Germain made a serious attempt to take him to France.
Instead of the two superstars, Guardiola lured the likes of Nolito, Leroy Sane, Gabriel Jesus, John Stones and Ilkay Gundogan to Manchester.
The manager continued his 100% record this weekend, with City having won all eight of their competitive matches so far this season.
