It has been reported that should interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer get the Manchester United job on a full-time basis, the Norwegian will look to break the bank for Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar.
According to Don Balon, Solskjaer wants to lure the skilful Brazilian to the Red Devils at the end of the season if he is given the job permanently.
As per the report, United could be tempted to offer up to €299 million (R4.7 billion) for the 27-year-old, which would smash the previous world record for a transfer fee of €222 million (R3.5 billion), which was set when Neymar moved from FC Barcelona to PSG in August 2017.
Although he has scored many goals since his arrival in France, it has often been said that he is not entirely happy in the country.
Neymar, who is currently sidelined with a metatarsal injury, has also been linked with Real Madrid and his former club FC Barcelona over the past few months.
The forward would become the most expensive player in Premier League history if he was to join United, although any move will depend on whether or not playing in England is in his plans.
Since joining Les Parisiens, Neymar has scored 48 goals and assisted a further 27 strikes in 53 games for the French giants.
