The Argentine is understood to be close to a contract extension with the Catalan giants, but wants the club to improve their squad.
Barcelona are yet to announce a successor for manager Luis Enrique, and the new coach will have to revamp an ageing Catalan side.
With players such as Arda Turan, Jeremy Mathieu and Andre Gomes among the candidates expected to be shown the exit door, new blood will need to be brought in.
According to Don Balon, Messi wants Hector Bellerin, Marco Verratti and Paulo Dybala to arrive at the Camp Nou.
Bellerin, a Barca youth product, would be expected to fill the void left by Dani Alves at right-back, while Verratti is seen as the perfect addition to the Blaugrana's midfield.
However, Paris Saint-Germain recently labelled the Italian as "intransferable", while Dybala extended his deal with Juventus just two weeks ago.

It remains to be seen who Barcelona will attempt to add to their squad for the next campaign, but an interesting transfer window at the Camp Nou seemingly awaits.
