It is believed Italian giants Juventus had already agreed a deal with a midfield star before they signed superstar Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.

According to Calciomercato, the Serie A champions had agreed a fee for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic before they eventually signed Ronaldo.

The signing of the Portuguese is believed to have caused the Bianconeri's deal with the Serbian to collapse as securing both signatures would not have been financially viable for the club.

Juve reportedly had a €80 million (R1.5 billion) offer for the 23-year-old accepted, although Lazio backed out at the last moment as they felt they could get more for him.

However, it has since been claimed that the Italian giants did not get back to Lazio, resulting in Milinkovic-Savic committing his future to his club.
