Reports: FC Barcelona Worried About Lionel Messi
FC Barcelona are reportedly worried about superstar Lionel Messi's fitness after he missed Argentina's game against Italy on Friday night.
The 30-year-old watched on as the Albiceleste took on the Azzurri on Friday, with reports suggesting he had picked up an injury.
According to Sport, Messi also missed training on Saturday as he felt some discomfort in his right leg.
Speaking ahead of his national team's game against Spain on Tuesday recently, the Argentine admitted that, although he wants to play, he has been suffering from a hamstring injury for quite some time.
The Albiceleste's staff have previously voiced concerns over Messi's fitness, insisting that Barca should rest him more.
The player has missed just four games for the Catalan giants this season, of which only one of those matches were in LaLiga – which he missed due to the birth of his third child – while the others were in the Copa del Rey.
Barca could also be sweating over their star man's physical state as he has arguably carried the Blaugrana through difficult moments in this campaign.
Messi has scored 35 goals and assisted a further 16 strikes in just 43 games for Barca so far this season.
