The Brazilian, who joined Paris Saint-Germain in a world-record deal worth €222 million (R3.49 billion) in 2017, has often been linked with a return to the Catalan giants of late, while Los Blancos are also believed to be keen on taking Neymar back to Spain.
According to the Daily Mirror, Barcelona could now use Ousmane Dembele as a makeweight in a deal to take Neymar back to the Camp Nou.
The 21-year-old was bought as a replacement for the superstar but has struggled to live up to expectations and his heavy price tag since arriving from Borussia Dortmund for €115 million (R1.81 billion) plus add-ons.
Dembele has made a few negative headlines as well, due to a perceived attitude problem and for arriving late to Barcelona training sessions and matches, and the club's bosses are reportedly prepared to sell him.
Liverpool and Arsenal are believed to be interested in the Frenchman, but the Blaugrana would apparently prefer to offer him in a deal plus money in order to get Neymar back.

Despite all the negative news around his name, Dembele secured a vital point for Barca against Atletico Madrid on Saturday, after coming off the bench to score a late equaliser in the 90th minute of the match, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
The France international's goals have earned the Catalan giants seven points already this season, with three of his strikes earning his team the win in three matches, and his goal on Saturday earning the Blaugrana a draw from a losing position.
