With Cristiano Ronaldo having reportedly left Old Trafford early on Sunday after coming off at half-time in Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano, why he did so has seemingly been revealed.
Ex-Man Utd Star Slams Inappropriate Ronaldo
The 37-year-old returned to action for United in their friendly against LaLiga side Vallecano on the weekend, playing just 45 minutes before not coming out for the second half.
Around the 75th minute, it was reported that the five-time Ballon d'Or had been seen leaving the stadium, which he appeared to get a lot of criticism for on social media.
According to The United Stand, however, permission to leave early was given to the former Real Madrid talisman and a number of his teammates who did not take part in the game by manager Erik ten Hag so that they could beat the traffic and crowds.
Bruno Fernandes, Anthony Martial, Diogo Dalot and David de Gea were among those who joined Ronaldo in taking off before the final whistle.
Ahead of the pre-season friendly, Ten Hag admitted that the Portugal forward is far from fit enough to compete and that he requires more match fitness to find his best form.
This comes amid reports that the ex-Juventus forward will continue to push for an exit from United in this transfer window, despite being under contract until 2023.
It is believed Ronaldo is desperate to continue playing in the UEFA Champions League, which the Red Devils will not be able to offer him in the 2022/23 season following a disappointing previous campaign.
