The reason Barcelona have a Cristiano Ronaldo-related newspaper clipping hanging in their dressing room has seemingly been revealed.
On the weekend, it seems fans on social media spotted that a certain newspaper headline relating to the former Real Madrid talisman is currently hanging on the walls of the Blaugrana first team's training ground dressing room.
The note, according to ESPN, reads "Cristiano positive again for COVID-19 and will miss Barcelona game", and it is claimed the clipping is used to motivate the club's players to continue adhering to COVID-19 protocols.
After Ronaldo tested positive for the coronavirus in October last year, he was forced to miss a UEFA Champions League knockout match against Barcelona, which left him and many others disappointed considering it was going to be the first time he and Lionel Messi would face each other since the Portuguese forward swapped Los Blancos for Juventus.
It has thus been reported that the Blaugrana use this clipping to remind their players of the importance of following government guidelines, while it seemingly also implies that there could be harsh consequences should players not do so.
Per AS, below the headline is another message on the noticeboard noting that "the competition is at stake" and that "the rules are to be met".
In that game that Ronaldo missed, Barcelona defeated the Bianconeri 2-0 thanks to goals from Ousmane Dembele and Messi. The ex-Real forward did feature in the return fixture, though, scoring twice in a 3-0 victory for the Old Lady.
