Zidane Hails Ronaldo After Benzema Penalty Gesture
Real Madrid's Zinedine Zidane Hails Cristiano Ronaldo After Karim Benzema Penalty Gesture
Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has praised superstar Cristiano Ronaldo for giving Karim Benzema a penalty when the Portuguese was in line for a hat-trick.
Ronaldo's thirst for goals has been one of the main reasons for his many years of success, but on Saturday, the 33-year-old showed fans a different side of himself.
The Portuguese allowed his colleague Benzema to take a last-minute penalty in Los Blancos' match against Alaves, rather than potentially seal a hat-trick for himself, and Zidane was delighted with Ronaldo's kind gesture, saying the mood in the camp is very good at the moment.
"We might have difficult moments, but the players are the very top, the best there are," he said, according to Marca.
"The most important thing is the atmosphere in the dressing room, we are very strong. Cristiano Ronaldo showed this with his beautiful gesture to let Benzema take the penalty."
Before his strike from the spot this weekend, Benzema had scored just one LaLiga goal in his last nine league games.
All three stars in Real's famous "BBC" attacking trio were on target in the club's 4-0 win over Alaves, with Gareth Bale also finding the back of the net.
