Ronaldo To Follow 'Special Training' Program

Real Madrid coach, Carlo Ancelotti, has confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will start in the club's season opener, but also follow a special training program to aid his recovery from injury.

Ronaldo has been struggling with tendinitis and muscle problems since the end of last season and has experienced ongoing problems with his return to fitness ever since.

"There might well be a few minor aches and pains. Last season he had tendinitis and during the pre-season he was not at his best," the Italian coach told Marca, after confirming that Ronaldo will start tonight’s match against Córdoba.

"He needed individual training work to sort it out. We will have to make full use of next week to do training and specific work to improve his condition."

Ancelotti then continued by commenting on his target to win La Liga, which was the only title he never managed to win in his debut season.

"We're going to fight to win the league. We came very close last season but in the end we were missing just that little bit of energy. We will try to improve this year, though the league will be as hard as it always is," he added.

"We played two matches against a team with a strong solid defence like Atléti; we haven't found a solution with speed, but this side is not going to have any problems with goals."

Real Madrid start their La Liga campaign at the Santiago Bernabeau against newly promoted Córdoba at 20:00 tonight.
