With Real Madrid talisman Cristiano Ronaldo being ahead of Lionel Messi as the player with the most hat-tricks in LaLiga history, here is how his record compares to those who have starred in Europe's other top leagues.

The Portuguese seems to have rediscovered his best form at Los Blancos in recent weeks, having hit the back of the net 21 times in his past 11 games.

Ronaldo's last game saw him destroy Girona's defence with a four-goal haul during a 6-3 win that put Real within four points of city rivals Atletico Madrid, who are second in the LaLiga standings.

The 33-year-old has now scored 34 hat-tricks in Spain's top flight, more hat-tricks than any other player has struck in Europe's top five leagues.

In the Bundesliga, legendary striker Gerd Muller holds the record with 32 hat-tricks, while in Italy, it is the late Giuseppe Meazza at the top of the list with 15 Serie A hat-tricks.

Former Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers forward Alan Shearer scored 11 hat-tricks in the Premier League, the most for any player in England's top flight, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic hit seven hat-tricks during his time in Ligue 1.

Ronaldo will be looking to extend his incredible record over Messi in Spain from now until the end of the season, with the Argentine having scored three goals in a single league match on 28 occasions so far.
