The man who handles the club's transfer business, Leonardo, has confirmed that the 22-year-old wants to join the Spanish giants, amid reports that they have launched an official bid for his services.
Speaking about the latest surrounding the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner, Leonardo admitted that the club will consider selling him if the 13-time UEFA Champions League winners meet their demands.
"Kylian Mbappe wants to join Real Madrid and we will not hold him back," he said, according to RMC h/t Fabrizio Romano.
"We said no to Madrid's first offer, but if our conditions are met, we'll see. We made two important offers to Mbappe: one for the top players in the squad two months ago and one above these players very recently.
"We want to prove to him that he is an important player, at the centre of the project, but not above the project. We have no plans to talk to Real again for Mbappe. The deadline is August 31 at midnight.
"This is how the transfer window is: we keep him and we extend. But we're not going to let him go for less than what we paid when we still owe Monaco money.
"We never opened the door to a departure of Kylian Mbappe. Never. People say that I want to sell and not Nasser, but me or Nasser think the same thing. We are on the same point. But if a player wants to leave, it's on our terms.
"Real Madrid bid for Mbappe seems like a strategy to show they were trying every way to sign Kylian and that’s it. They’ve been disrespectful, incorrect, illegal and unacceptable. We’re not accepting €160m. If he wants to go, it will be for our conditions."
