Former FC Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola has weighed in on the Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi debate.
The Spanish tactician coached the Argentine during his tenure as the Blaugrana's manager, and went on to win two UEFA Champions League crowns alongside the player.
There has been a fair amount of talk once again regarding who the best player in the world really is and Manchester City's new boss has added his opinion to the table.
"The best player in the Champions League is (Lionel) Messi, no one is better than him," Guardiola told the press, as quoted by Marca.
The Spanish coach also touched on his new project at City, and insisted his squad is ready for European competition.
"It was a pleasure to coach Barcelona and Bayern Munich far into the Champions League, but now, at Manchester City, we have our own story," he added.
"I'm not a romantic, I want to win games and I think the best way to win games is mine, which is something I try to convince my players."
The Citizens will take on Borussia Monchengladbach in their first Champions League game of the campaign on Tuesday night.
