Although Pele has previously praised FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, he now appears to be offended that many consider the Argentine the greatest player of all time. Here is what the Brazil legend recently had to say about the five-time Ballon d'Or winner being compared to him.
Pele is widely thought of as one of football's best players ever, along with Diego Maradona and, in more recent times, Messi.
Asked how he feels about the Blaugrana talisman holding that status recently, the 78-year-old claimed that no player with "one skill" should be compared to him.
"How can you make a comparison between a guy who heads the ball well, shoots with the left, shoots with the right... and another who only shoots with one leg, only has one skill, doesn't head the ball well?" he said in an interview with Folha de S.Paulo.
"How can you compare? To compare with Pele, it has to be someone who shoots well with the left, shoots well with the right, and scores headers."
Pele even went as far as bringing Maradona into the conversation.
"You will ask me: 'Was Maradona better than Messi?'" he added.
"Yes, by a lot. Much better."
