Paris Saint-Germain Boss Orders Neymar And Edinson Cavani To Sort Out Penalty Row
Paris Saint-Germain manager Unai Emery has ordered world record signing Neymar and Edinson Cavani to sort out the penalty-taking responsibilities after the pair were seen arguing over a spot-kick.
In the 79th minute of Les Parisiens' match against Lyon on Sunday, Emery's side was awarded a penalty, and the Uruguayan and the Brazilian international were then seen fighting over who would take it – Neymar eventually relented, but Cavani went on to miss from the spot.
In a post-match press conference, the Spanish tactician told members of the media he expects his two forwards to decide who is taking a penalty at any given time.
"The penalties are to be struck by a few players, one is Cavani, and the other is Neymar," Emery said, as quoted by FourFourTwo.
"It takes a gentleman's agreement on the ground to hit the penalties.
"Afterwards, we will arrange internally for the penalties that are coming in, because I think both are able to score them, and I want the two to alternate in this exercise.
"If there is no agreement, I will decide. I do not want it to be a problem for us."
PSG maintained their perfect start to the season with their 2-0 win, courtesy of two own goals, over their Ligue 1 opponents Lyon.
