Neymar has often been linked with a return to FC Barcelona, but he has now reportedly decided to stay at Paris Saint-Germain, eyeing an extension to his contract that is said to be worth a whopping €30 million a year.
The Brazilian's contract with PSG is only set to expire in June 2022, but he reportedly came close to returning to the Camp Nou ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.
However, the deal ultimately fell through, and a return to Spain also failed to materialise in the most recent window.
Neymar has now reportedly accepted that Barcelona simply cannot afford him due to their current financial troubles, and is keen to extend his stay at Les Parisiens.
The 28-year-old, who is currently sidelined with an injury, has contacted the French giants' sporting director Leonardo to initiate contract talks, according to Footmercato and as cited by Marca.
However, PSG are understood to be solely focused on the situation regarding Kylian Mbappe right now as they want to tie him down to a new deal.
The France superstar's contract also expires in 2022, and it is believed he has told the Ligue 1 champions he will not be extending his stay, with clubs such as Real Madrid, Liverpool and Juventus all linked with his signature.
Neymar, meanwhile, seems willing to stay at the Parc des Princes whether or not Mbappe leaves, and is said to be keen to extend his contract, which currently sees him earn €30 million (R563 million) a year, with the club.
The Selecao talisman has made 91 appearances for PSG to date, scoring 72 goals and assisting a further 45 strikes.
