With less than two weeks to go before the European transfer window closes, it is becoming increasingly unlikely that Brazilian superstar Neymar will leave Paris Saint-Germain.
The 27-year-old has been strongly linked with a return to Spain, where LaLiga rivals FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are said to be fighting for his signature, but time is running out on his potential departure from the Parc des Princes.
Neymar missed PSG's Ligue 1 defeat to Stade Rennais this past weekend amid the transfer speculation, but club manager Thomas Tuchel has stressed that the player will not be sold if a replacement is not found.
"We can't lose Neymar without replacing him," Tuchel said after the match, as reported by Marca.
"If we keep him, we have a player that can win the one-on-ones, and that is sometimes necessary.
"Nothing has changed (regarding Neymar's situation). The market is open, it will not be resolved today or tomorrow, things are not set in stone."
The German tactician also explained that the former Barca attacker missed Sunday's match because of a lack of fitness rather than as a result of any impending transfer.
"It is not possible for him to play because he has not yet done any training with the others and the risk of injury is too great," Tuchel added.
Neymar scored 23 goals in 28 appearances during an injury-plagued 2018/19 campaign for Les Parisiens last season.
