Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar has reportedly suffered a hairline fracture in his foot and is now doubtful for his side's return fixture against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League round of 16. Here is what his father had to say about the injury.

Reports: Neymar To Undergo Surgery, Out Of Real Clash

Soon after the news broke on Tuesday, there was talk that the Brazil international will need surgery, but the Ligue 1 side's manager, Unai Emery, rubbished these claims, saying that the former FC Barcelona star may still feature against Los Blancos.

However, the player's father, Neymar Sr, believes it is best for his son to have surgery on his foot.

"We have to wait for the club's decision. PSG is waiting for the right moment," Neymar Sr told ESPN Brazil.

"The team doctor (Rodrigo Lasmar from Brazil's national set-up) will arrive and they will make that decision together.

"(Wednesday) they will meet and decide. We did not want to be in this situation, but we should try to recover Neymar as best we can. PSG already know they will not have Neymar for six to eight weeks, regardless of whether there is surgery or not.

"It is vital to make it quickly because we cannot wait. Surgery is the quickest way to accelerate the player's recovery."
