Neymar’s father, Neymar de Silva Sr., has claimed that Real Madrid offered €150 million for his son but he preferred to join Barcelona.
Neymar Sr. appeared in the Spanish High Court on Wednesday as a witness to answer questions over the signing of his son last summer.
During his two-hour testimony he said that Real Madrid had offered Santos €150 million for his son, but the 22-year-old opted to join Barcelona for a smaller salary.
Sources present during the proceedings told Spanish media that Neymar Sr. justified dozen different contracts Barcelona signed in order to bring Neymar to Camp Nou.
Neymar Sr. also gave insights in different sub payments of the deal and dismissed claims of alleged tax crimes and misappropriation over the Brazilian’s transfer.
The suit was brought by a Barcelona club member, Jordi Cases, who claimed that former club president Sandro Rosell embezzled €40 million from the deal.
The former president subsequently stepped down from his post and Barcelona were forced to publically reveal the numbers of Neymar’s transfer.
