Neymar's father has talked about how Manchester United attempted to lure the Brazilian forward away from FC Barcelona.
The 23-year-old's father, who also works as his agent, confirmed that Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal tried to sign Neymar in the latest transfer window, but said the deal fell through because neither Barcelona nor the player were interested.
"The offer reached Barcelona and the club contacted us saying they were not going to sell," he told Boa Tarde Fox.
"They asked if we were interested, but that wasn't the case.
"Barcelona are not selling, he has three years still to go on his contract.
"It was Manchester's deal, but that offer is not on the table now, it has fallen through."
Neymar has come under scrutiny in recent weeks because of irregularities around his transfer from Santos to Barcelona in 2013.
His former club's president has asked FIFA to hand Neymar a six-month ban after allegations that the full amount of the transfer fee was hidden from the public surfaced.
The Brazilian has played eight games for the Catalans so far this season, and has found the net four times.
