Neymar's 5-A-Side Tournament Searching For SA Champs

FC Barcelona superstar Neymar continues to promote local football via his Neymar Jr's Five tournament – here's how you can qualify for the SA finals.

The inaugural edition of Neymar Jr's Five featured more than 65 000 people taking part across six continents and 47 countries. This year, teams from around the world will again set out in the hope of making it all the way from the qualifiers to the World Final in July, at the Instituto Projeto Neymar Jr in Praia Grande, Brazil.

Now in its second year, the tournament is set to step it up another level with more local qualifiers that begin this weekend. These, in turn, lead to the local final, which will take place in Newtown, Johannesburg, on 16 June.

"I think nobody expected so many people in the first edition. We were really satisfied, really happy. I hope this number grows even bigger," Neymar commented ahead of this year's edition.

"Be happy, no matter the result, no matter how hard it is. I hope they can have fun with Neymar Jr's Five, because this is the most important – be happy, have fun and I wish them all the best again."

Here is how you can participate in Neymar Jr's Five:

Build your team of 5-7 players, between the ages of 16-25, and start your journey to Praia Grande. But know this: it's a tournament with a twist. You need to outplay your opponents within 10 minutes to win the game. And – here's the real kick – every time one team scores, the other team loses a player. This makes it a very technical, as well as tactical, game. Get your team together, select one of the South Africa qualifiers below and start training!
