Neymar Labels FC Barcelona President A 'Joke'
Former FC Barcelona star Neymar has labelled the Spanish side's under-fire president Josep Maria Bartomeu a "joke" after his recent comments regarding his move to Paris Saint-Germain.
The 25-year-old's €222 million (R3.4 billion) move away from the Catalan club broke the world transfer record previously held by Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.
In an exclusive interview with Spanish publication Sport, Bartomeu claimed that the club made a mistake in trusting Neymar and his representatives.
"The first self-criticism we have is that we relied too much on Neymar," Bartomeu said.
"He did not act with the right decorum. I do not know (why he left). You should ask him. He did not tell us.
"For money? To lead a project? Here, he was at the best club in the world surrounded by many of the best players in the world, and without a doubt, that is Messi.
"But I do not know why he did not explain it to us. He paid the clause and left."
Neymar did not take these comments lightly, and decided to hit back via Instagram, replying to a post Esporte Interativo had put up.
"This president is a joke," Neymar wrote.
