FC Barcelona star Neymar has defended Cristiano Ronaldo following his red card, but insisted that the Portuguese must be punished.
Ronaldo got sent off for kicking Cordoba player, Edimar, on Saturday, but Neymar says that the 29-year-old is not the first one to lose his cool on the pitch.
"I don't work for the Competition Committee,” he told reporters, as quoted by Marca.
“I'm fully focused on my team and our Spanish Cup game against Atlético. I don't like to talk about other teams.
“Anyone in this job is exposed to provocation and intimidation, especially strikers... Sometimes you give into it.
“What happened to Cristiano could have happened to anyone but it cannot go unpunished.
“Sometimes you're provoked, like Zidane or me, but you have to focus on ignoring it.”
Ronaldo will hear the extent of his suspension tomorrow, but is likely to miss at least two games.
Neymar and Barcelona, meanwhile, take on Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey tomorrow night.
