According Sport, Barcelona have a verbal agreement with Neymar, who is desperate to return to Camp Nou and accepted a much lower salary in comparison to what he currently earns at Paris Saint-Germain.
The report claims sources have stated that Neymar did not even negotiate the deal because he knew the offer on the table was the maximum the Spanish club could afford amid their already stretched wage bill.
Neymar is currently the second-best paid footballer in the world with a reported annual income of €36 million (R586 million), but is prepared to see his wages drop to €24 million (R390 million) per season.
It is claimed that for Neymar and his entourage the most important is to return to Barcelona in order to restore his name among the best in the sport instead of trying to earn more than anybody else.
The Brazilian has other offers on the table, but his desire is to return to Barcelona. Only, if the Blaugrana would not be able to agree onto a deal with Paris Saint-Germain, he would consider Real Madrid’s offer, which is said to be higher than Barca’s.
Another condition of Barcelona’s offer is that Neymar and his representatives withdraw the court case over outstanding payments from his first Barcelona contract, with the case said to be worth €26 million (R423 million).
