One of FC Barcelona's newest signings has spoken about his eagerness to play with superstar Lionel Messi, whom he hopes to impress.
Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal was unveiled by Barca on Monday afternoon after signing a three-year deal with the Catalan giants, and he is looking forward to working with Messi, whom he believes is the greatest player of all time.
"There are a lot of great players here, but Messi is the best in history and I hope to be at the right level to be his teammate," he said, according to Sport.
"I will try and help him in everything. I'm coming here to be a starter, to earn my place among the best."
The 31-year-old also said he will work hard to fit into manager Ernesto Valverde's system right away.
"I want to adapt as quickly as possible. We will see what the coach wants," Vidal added.
"The important thing for all players in the end is not style but to win titles. I want to speak with the coach to see what he needs from me. But I come here willing to help him with everything. I want to show all my qualities."
Vidal represented his previous club Bayern Munich on 124 occasions, scoring 22 goals and assisting a further 18 strikes.
