The International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES), a Swiss-based football statistics institute, has published its latest update on the transfer values of Europe's top players. Multiple variables were taken into consideration, including player performances, age, contract length and potentially interested clubs.
In CIES' latest edition of their ranking, Kylian Mbappe replaced Harry Kane at the top. The Paris Saint-Germain wonderkid is valued at €216.5 million (R3.5 billion), while the Tottenham Hotspur striker's worth is estimated at €197.3 million (R3.21 billion).
Neymar, who is valued at €197 million (R3.2 billion), completes the podium, while Liverpool's Salah appears in fourth position after climbing above Messi. The Egyptian winger is the highest-valued African with a value of €173 million (R2.8 billion), while sixth-placed Messi's worth dropped to €170.6 million (R2.78 million).
Meanwhile, the Argentine's longstanding rival Ronaldo sits further down the ranking with an estimated value of €123.6 million (R2 billion) – €20.2 million (R328 million) more than he was rated in the previous update in June.
