The newly crowned PFA Player of the Year scored his 31st Premier League goal of the current campaign on the weekend, extending his lead in the European Golden Shoe race over Lionel Messi in the process.
He also equalled the league's all-time scoring record for a 38-game campaign, which he now jointly holds with Ronaldo, who scored 31 goals with Manchester United in 2007/08, Alan Shearer (1993/94 and 1995/96 for Blackburn Rovers) and Luis Suarez (2013/14 for Liverpool).
Salah has now explained that he is proud to equal the historic milestone, and wants to continue his scoring streak and even match the record for a 42-game campaign, held by Shearer (1994/95, Blackburn Rovers) and Andy Cole (1993/94, Newcastle United), who both scored 34 goals in those respective campaigns.
"As you know, comparing your name with these names (Ronaldo, Suarez and Shearer) and breaking the Premier League record of 38 (games) is something huge for the English and all over the world, so there are still three games to go," he said, as quoted by the Daily Express.
"I want to break this record and I also want to break the one for 42 (games in a season).
"I think it's all very near, now I have (to get to) 34 goals, so it's three goals to go. Let's see what will happen in the next three games."
Liverpool will face AS Roma in the UEFA Champions League tonight, before hosting Stoke City in the league on Saturday. It remains to be seen, though, whether or not Salah will play in that game, given the second leg of their semi-final against Roma is just around the corner.
The Reds' final two Premier League fixtures of the 2017/18 campaign are a trip to Chelsea and a home clash with Brighton.
