FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has terrified defences around the world since he burst on to the scene in 2004, and an international defender has now insisted that, just as Pep Guardiola had stated previously, the Argentine is unstoppable.
The 30-year-old is a forward many defences have tried to stop, but with 543 goals for the Blaugrana to his name, it is fair to say most have failed.
His speed and close control has made him a nightmare to mark for many of the world's best defenders, with many having conceded that he is simply too good.
Roma defender Kostas Manolas, who is set to go up against the superstar in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night, is one of those players who believes the Argentine is impossible to stop.
"Guardiola is right when he says there's no way to stop him (Messi)," the Greece international told Il Giornale.
"Even if you could fix that somehow and maybe block him off, there are 10 others that can hurt you.
"Of course, Barcelona are still something else without Messi. We'll have to do our best."
Messi recently scored his 100th goal in the UCL, bringing up the incredible milestone in just 123 matches.
