Lionel Messi has broken his silence for a first time since his transfer saga with FC Barcelona, giving some insights in his current state of mind.
The Argentine wanted to leave the Catalan giants this window, but was forced to stay by the Blaugrana board, who argued the clause in his contract that would have allowed him to depart for free expired.
Messi then decided he would stay at the Camp Nou as he did not want to take his club to court, and has now given his first public interview since the public row.
"After so many disagreements, I would like to bring an end to everything. We all have to be united and assume that the best is yet to come," he told Sport.
"I take responsibility for my errors and if they existed, it was only to make FC Barcelona better and stronger."

The club captain, who still has one more year left on his Barca contract, also had a message for the club’s fans.
"I wanted to send a message to all the socios and fans that follow us," he added.
"If at any moment, any of them were annoyed by something that I said or did, let there be no doubts that anything I did was always with the club's best interests in mind."
