The FC Barcelona captain is yet to win a FIFA Puskas Award, finishing in second place in 2015 and 2019, while also being among the final nominees in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2016 and 2018.
He was recently asked about his failure to win the award thus far, but he insisted team trophies are more important.
"I always say that individual awards are not my targets," he told Marca.
"The Best, the Ballon d'Or or the Golden Boot are not (my targets), and even less the best goal of the year.
"If I get it, it's fine, otherwise everything is OK."
The Argentine superstar was then asked about this year's winner Daniel Zsori, who beat him with a bicycle kick goal.
"It was a very good goal," he added.
"Impressive; a bicycle kick from far out and high in the air. It was a deserved award."
