The Argentine scored two goals and assisted the other in FC Barcelona's 3-0 win over Las Palmas on Sunday.
His fine display earned him a perfect 10 from statistics website WhoScored – who use their own algorithms and data to come up with their unique scoring system out of 10 – and he is one of only two players in the current European Team of the Week, which is made up of the top performers among Europe's top five leagues, to achieve the highest possible score.
Similar to Messi's Man of the Match performance, Neymar also starred for his new side Paris Saint-Germain on the weekend. The Brazilian netted a brace and assisted another goal in PSG's 6-2 thrashing of Bordeaux, earning himself a rating of 9.9.
Lazio's Luis Alberto is the only other player who received a perfect 10 rating from Whoscored after also netting a brace and assisting another in his side's 6-1 comeback win over Sassuolo on Sunday.
Isco is the only Real Madrid player in this week's selection, receiving a 9.8 rating for his two-goal display in Los Blancos' 2-0 triumph over Espanyol on Sunday night.
This week's team is made up of four Ligue 1 players, three from La Liga and three from Serie A, as well as one Bundesliga star – no player from the Premier League was selected.
