Messi, for his incredible chipped goal against Real Betis in LaLiga last season, is once again up for contention, though he has never actually won the prize.
According to GiveMeSport, the 32-year-old has now made history with his latest nomination as he has been considered for the award on seven occasions, more than any other player.
