After being named among the 10 nominees for the 2019 Fifa Puskas Award, FC Barcelona and Argentina superstar Lionel Messi has made history.
The Puskas accolade is handed out to the individual who scored the best goal across all leagues and countries across the world in a single calendar year.
Messi, for his incredible chipped goal against Real Betis in LaLiga last season, is once again up for contention, though he has never actually won the prize.
According to GiveMeSport, the 32-year-old has now made history with his latest nomination as he has been considered for the award on seven occasions, more than any other player.
Messi was first nominated in 2010 for a wonderful solo effort against Valencia, with his next nominations coming in 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016 and 2018.
