Following his hat-trick to secure FC Barcelona their 25th LaLiga title, Lionel Messi has overtaken Mohamed Salah at the top of the European Golden Shoe table, while Cristiano Ronaldo chances further decreased.

The Argentine scored three goals in his side’s 4-2 win over Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday evening, taking his tally for the LaLiga season to 32 strikes.

His goals tally equates to 64 points in the European Golden Shoe ranking, with LaLiga’s accumulator being rated as “two” by UEFA.

Messi reclaimed the lead in the Golden Shoe race from Salah, who failed to find the back of the net in Liverpool's 0-0 draw against Stoke this weekend and remained on 31 strikes and 62 points.

The FC Barcelona superstar has a massive advantage over the second-placed Egyptian, who could become the first African to lift the award, because he still has four league fixtures, while the Salah only has two left.

Lazio’s Ciro Immobile follows with 29 goals, equating to 58 points in third place, while Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski sits on 28 strikes and 56 points.

Further down the ranking, Cristiano Ronaldo has remained in ninth spot after once again being rested in Real Madrid’s 2-1 win over Leganes on Saturday. The Portuguese has now missed five of Real’s last 11 league fixtures due to being rested by Zinedine Zidane.

Do you think Salah can still beat Messi to the European Golden Shoe? Have your say in the comments section below.

Messi will always be a step ahead of your so called goal scoring machine. We Messi fans don’t hate Ronaldo, the reality is Ronaldo is the best player on earth simply because Messi is from another planet.

@SiyaVToni, Zidane rested Ronaldo because he saw that his team was no longer in contension for La liga tittle. So he decided to rather rest him for champions league. It would have been a different story if Madrid were only three points behind Barca, then he would have played him.

Zidane has killed Ronaldo and Real Madrid by this resting business of his, he is overdoing it and it's disrupting Ronado's rhythm and lot, Ronado is arguably one of the fittest athletes in the world and doesn't need this resting nonsense!

m afraid after that 6 goal rout at the hands of La Roja his team mates will be handy at the biggest stage.they don't differ too much with CR7 as far as the good team mates issue is concerned.Dybala is nowhere near his best,Kun is not a starter
