A former Manchester United striker, who played with Cristiano Ronaldo at two clubs, believes FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has all the talents that the Portuguese forward, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, among others, have combined.
After joining the Red Devils from PSV Eindhoven in 2001, Ruud van Nistelrooy went on to establish himself as one of the most lethal finishers in the game.
Following a five-year stay in England, during which he scored 150 goals, the Dutchman signed for Real Madrid in 2006, where he continued to find the back of the net on a regular basis.
In Spain, Van Nistelrooy often went up against Barcelona and Messi, and the Dutchman, despite having previously played with Ronaldo at both United and Real, has now insisted that the Argentine is on a level no other player come close to.
"There is no one who is at his level, he seems to play like a Playstation player," he told Sport.
"Nobody comes close to Messi. Tell me who... Cristiano (Ronaldo) is a goalscorer, (Andres) Iniesta is a brain, (Mohamed) Salah, (Sadio) Mane, (Eden) Hazard and (Kylian) Mbappe are excellent players, but Messi is all that together."
Messi, along with the other players mentioned by Van Nistelrooy, is up for the 2019 Ballon d'Or award, with the winner set to be announced in early December.
