Lionel Messi will be hoping to return to goal scoring form when Barcelona take on Granada today, and his record indicates that he will do so.
The Argentinian ace has scored seven goals in six appearances against the relegation threatened outfit, including two braces in 2013, as well as a hat-trick in the same year.
However, Messi has failed to net any goals against them in his past three matches against them, including the shock 1-0 loss in April last year. But, his record still makes for positive reading with more than a goal per game against the Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes outfit.
Messi will be hoping to return to the goal scoring form that he was in earlier this year, after failing to score in his last two games, as well as missing a penalty against Manchester City in midweek.
Luis Suarez also emphasized earlier how Barcelona need to win every remaining game this season to challenge Real Madrid for the La Liga title. Luis Enrique will be counting on Messi to be in his best form in order to achieve that goal.
So, it is a given that Granada will be doing everything that they can to keep the four-time Ballon d’Or winner at bay today. Their efforts to stop him will be key to the underdogs coming away with anything today. But, the statistics indicate that Messi’s name will be on the scoresheet.
