Lionel Messi Equals 38yo Goal Record
FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi equalled a 38-year-old goal record, which only one player among Europe's top five leagues achieved before him, on Sunday night.
Click through the mini-gallery above to see eight players, who have scored more than 500 goals for one club.
The Argentine scored his side's second goal in their 2-0 victory over Villarreal to reclaim their five-point lead at the top of La Liga.
The strike was his 14th goal in La Liga this season and 18th across all competitions, and took his overall tally for the club to 525 goals in 606 appearances.
In so doing, he equalled the top five European leagues record held by Bayern Munich legend Gerd Muller, who scored 525 goals in 572 games between 1965 and 1979 for the German giants.
There are now only three players who have scored more goals for a single club than Messi, namely Josef Bican (Slavia Praha), Fernando Peyroteo (Sporting Lisbon) and Pele (Santos).
The Brazilian scored 643 goals for Santos, which means Messi still needs to score 128 goals to break Pele's all-time record.
