Messi Ends Calendar Year Ahead Of CR7

With the year coming to an end, here is how FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi finished 2018 ahead of Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo as their player rivalry continues.

Messi Finally Responds To Ronaldo's 'Challenge'

Although both players are in their thirties and they no longer compete in the same league, Messi and Ronaldo will always be compared to one another.

It has been another superb calendar year for both superstars in terms of trophies and goals, but in terms of individual numbers, the Argentine has enjoyed a better 2018 than his counterpart.

Messi has ended the year on 51 goals for club and country, and also assisted another 26 strikes in the 54 matches he played across all platforms.

The 31-year-old struck 47 times and set up a further 23 goals in 49 appearances for Barca, and scored four times and assisted three strikes in five games for Argentina.

Overall, Messi contributed to 77 goals in 2018, compared to Ronaldo's 62 goal contributions. The Portuguese ends the year on 49 goals for both club and country, while he assisted a further 13 strikes.

Ronaldo scored 43 club goals and set up 12 strikes for Real Madrid and Juve, while he scored six goals and assisted one further strike on the international stage.
