Paris Saint-Germain director Leonardo has responded to claims that Lionel Messi is earning €30 million (R520 million) this season after his contract was reportedly leaked.
A recent report by French outlet L'Equipe suggested that the Argentine superstar will earn a salary of €110 million (over 1.9 billion) the next three years with PSG.
It is stated therein that while Messi will earn €30 million in this campaign, his annual salary will increase to €40 million (R693 million) over the next two seasons.
However, PSG's sporting director Leonardo was not pleased with the report in L'Equipe, which he has labelled as false information.
"We can't accept this," he told reporters, as per the Daily Mirror.
"This is unacceptable. This is completely false. I wanted to tell you that. I think it's a lack of respect and we didn't like it. I don't understand the timing. This is really very far from the truth, on the duration and the numbers.
"There are confidentiality clauses, but I can say that this is not the truth. The duration of the contract is two years. It's wrong, it's not that, and we didn't like it."
