It appears that Lionel Messi, who missed Barcelona's final match of the season on the weekend, has provided a major hint over where he will be playing next season.
The Argentine was given permission to skip the Catalan club's LaLiga clash with Eibar on Saturday, a 1-0 win away from home.
Messi, 33, has been strongly linked with a move away from the Blaugrana, with Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain both reported to be potential destinations for him.
In a recent interview, however, he spoke about the significance of his side's Copa del Rey triumph in April, saying it acted as a "turning point" for the club.
"The truth is that the recent Copa del Rey was special due to the period we were in," Messi told Diario Ole.
"The club has gone a couple of years of not having a great time due to different results and titles.
"Because it is a very young dressing room, with a lot of people, and new people, and this Copa del Rey for the dressing room was a turning point, and very important."
Many believe these remarks from the six-time Ballon d'Or winner could suggest that he is set to extend his contract with Barcelona, with Sergio Aguero's reported expected arrival at the Camp Nou also potentially a key factor.
The Argentina striker appears destined to sign for the Spanish giants in the coming weeks, after he revealed in March that he would leave Manchester City once his contract with the Premier League club expires in June.
